Plot

In a quiet, rural town nestled amidst the rolling hills of Jinyang County, an extraordinary discovery shakes the foundations of its tranquil existence.

A team of archaeologists, led by the determined Jung Ki-hoon, uncovers a colossal Buddha statue buried deep beneath the earth.

What initially promises to be a boon for tourism and local pride soon unravels into a harrowing tale of ancient curses and supernatural malevolence.

The town’s mayor, buoyed by visions of economic revitalization and cultural significance, champions the unveiling of the statue.

However, unbeknownst to him and the jubilant townspeople, the unearthed relic carries with it a dark and sinister history. Legends whispered through generations, once dismissed as mere folklore, begin to manifest in chilling reality.

As the statue emerges from its long burial, an ominous presence awakens. A centuries-old curse, bound to the statue by unknown rituals and forgotten prayers, seeps into the fabric of the town.

Initially subtle, its effects soon become grotesquely apparent. Residents begin to experience disturbing visions and inexplicable transformations. Souls are slowly devoured, replaced by something eerily non-human.

Jung Ki-hoon, thrust into the heart of this burgeoning catastrophe, finds himself grappling not only with the physical excavation of the statue but also with the deeper, metaphysical forces it has unleashed.

Formerly a respected archaeologist renowned for his scholarly pursuits, Jung Ki-hoon now navigates realms beyond empirical understanding.

Desperate to uncover the truth behind these paranormal phenomena, he delves into ancient texts, consults local shamans, and seeks guidance from anyone who might hold a clue to stopping the curse’s rampage.

Complicating matters further is Lee Soo Jin, Jung Ki-hoon’s ex-wife and once a brilliant archaeologist herself.

Haunted by personal tragedy—a loss that shattered her academic pursuits—Lee Soo Jin is drawn back into the fold by the lure of deciphering cryptic symbols etched into the unearthed statue.

Her quest for closure intertwines with the unfolding supernatural events, pushing her intellect and emotional resilience to their limits. Meanwhile, the townspeople of Jinyang County find themselves unwitting players in a terrifying drama.

Police substation chief Han Seok Hee, burdened with maintaining order amidst the spreading chaos, witnesses firsthand the unsettling transformation of her community members.

Her son, Han Do Kyung, initially skeptical of the supernatural, becomes an unwitting conduit for understanding the curse’s true nature.

Governor Kwon Jong Soo, tasked with managing the crisis while preserving political appearances, wrestles with decisions that could either save or doom the town.

Amidst this turmoil, troublemaker Kwak Yong Joo stirs the pot further, initially dismissing the supernatural claims as superstition until confronted with chilling evidence that defies rational explanation.

Together, these disparate individuals—each touched by the curse in unique ways—form an unlikely alliance against an adversary that defies conventional logic. As the curse escalates, the statue exerts an increasingly malevolent influence.

Shadows lengthen, whispers grow louder, and the line between human and otherworldly blurs.

Jung Ki-hoon and Lee Soo Jin race against time, piecing together fragments of history and lore, hoping to uncover a solution before the curse claims more lives and irrevocably alters the town they once hoped to enrich.

In the heart of Jinyang County, where the past and present collide with terrifying consequences, the true power of faith, belief, and the enduring human spirit is put to the ultimate test.

Can they break the curse that binds the Buddha statue and restore peace to a town besieged by supernatural forces? Or will they succumb to the darkness that threatens to consume them all?

As day turns to night and ancient secrets unravel, the fate of Jinyang County hangs in precarious balance—a balance that will be decided by courage, sacrifice, and the resilience of those who dare to confront the unknown.
